People travel for many reasons. Students are usually more adventurous than the average person down the block and they love to travel. Usually the reason the student will tell you that they travel is for fun, excitement or adventure. Sometimes, however, the most important thing about traveling may have little to do with the intention for going. Add the advantage of dirt cheap airline tickets and other student travel advantages and you can’t go wrong.

Many times the adventurous nature of students and their general lack of funds for lavish accommodations cause the student traveler to be more receptive to the possibility of getting away from the main tourist attractions. By staying off the beaten path the student can be exposed to the real daily experiences and cultural differences often not seen by the more experienced and better funded traveler.

There are actually many more beautiful places, with great scenery available off the beaten track than on. This type of travel is certainly more for the truly adventurous, but it can afford the person willing to do it the opportunity to associate with the locals, experience their culture firsthand, and even learn and grow in the process. In this time of fuel surcharges and fewer inexpensive and almost no dirt cheap airline tickets, tighter budgets reign.

In these ways, the student traveler has many advantages over their more wealthy counterparts and may return from a trip with more cultural insights, having seen even more remarkable scenery than someone else who spent twice the money. Limited dirt cheap airline tickets just call for more imagination and tightening the belt elsewhere.

There are a number of caravan parks throughout the region, a popular one being Kyneton Caravan Park, in the northerly town of Kyneton. Famed for its architecture, Kyneton has a rich history which is evident in its antique shops and the strong sense of culture you get from the town. Piper Street is the centre for some rare creative pursuits such as stone work and wool spinning, and there is a diverse collection of galleries and shops here that are bound to keep you entertained.

The interior caravan layout and fixtures is important. There are a number of things to consider. One is the size of the bed. Double beds in caravans are often smaller than the normal one at home. Sometimes caravan beds are shaped with rounded corners, which mean it is extremely difficult to use a fitted sheet.

Similar problems can occur with beds in motorhomes. In campervans, beds can be even bigger than king-size so, again, sheets may be a problem. The choice of single beds versus double beds is personal and is entirely depended on what sleeping arrangements you prefer. Think also about whether you want a fold-up bed, so you can enjoy extra space during the day, and where you want the bed positioned: some travelers prefer an island bed, others are happy for it to be flush against the caravan side.

Make sure the caravan layout you choose has good usable storage space both inside and outside. The wardrobe should have sufficient hanging capacity. Most caravans have side door entry just some also have rear door entry. If you go for a rear door, make sure the dust sealing and scupper vent in the roof to pressurise the van is in excellent working order for minimising dust.

The Esplanade in the centre of Cairns, is where restaurants, cafes, markets, nightclubs, pubs and shopping arcades are located, and is also the departure point for most reef tours and island cruises. Much of it is given over to nature reserve, making it a fabulous place to walk, spot rare species of wildlife, and for those who like the water, it is a superb and safe place to explore in a sailing dinghy or canoe.
